About the Maryland Community of Lactation Consultants

The Maryland Community of Lactation Consultants (MCLC) was started in 2001 as a way to allow breastfeeding professionals and other support people to connect together.  The Sharing Conferences began to do just that – SHARE!  Our main objective is to exchange ideas and modalities of treatment for breastfeeding challenges and to discuss current methods.  We also exist to provide ongoing, professional education and obtain CERPS necessary for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification or recertification at a reasonable rate.  Often, we have have speakers who speak nationally and internationally as experts in their specialty and sometimes our own members share from their experiences.  The group is open to anyone interested in supporting breastfeeding mothers and babies.  You do not need to work in a health care setting or be an IBCLC to participate.
